Kenija – Kenijski predsjednik potpisuje porez od 7.5 posto za sportsko klađenje

By - 6. srpnja 2021

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed in a 7.5 per cent tax on betting stakes into law, approving a reduction from the initially proposed 20 per cent excise tax on betting stakes.

Sports betting operators Sportpesa and Betin left the market when the level of tax increased from 10 per cent in 2019 in a move that saw the Treasury collected less tax income. Sortpesa later returned to the Kenyan market, under the brand Milestone Games when the increased tax level was rejected.

The Finance Committee said: “The committee observed that the proposed rate of excise duty on betting is too high and may end up not achieving the intended revenue as most players will opt for international platforms for their betting activities.”
